Fifty for 50!

In honor of the County Parks’ 50th Anniversary, we are celebrating with 50 free or discounted programs and special offers throughout the year! Look for this symbol highlighting the “Fifty for 50” events!


Canoe, Kayak and Stand Up Paddleboard the St. Joseph River

  • Fri-Sun and Holidays, beginning May 27; closed Mon-Thurs (except holidays)
  • St. Patrick’s County Park: Brown Barn
  • 11am to 4pm (Long trip rental ends at 2pm); vessels must be returned by 7pm.
  • 1-person kayak: $20 short trip and $27 long trip
    Stand Up Paddleboards: $25 short trip only (not available on Fridays)
    Canoe short trip: $25 and $32 long trip (long trip not available on Fridays)
    Plus gate fee

Get your family and friends together and canoe the beautiful St. Joseph River! Also a great idea for clubs, businesses and groups of all ages! Packages include shuttle service, canoes, paddles and required life jackets. Parental signature required for renters under the age of 18. Not recommended for children 3 years of age or younger. Limited kayak and SUP rentals available. Need five or more canoes? No problem, call ahead to reserve a caravan of canoes at least ten days prior to your trip. Have your own vessel? We provide shuttle service for $7 during shuttle operations. Beginners and families may also use our pond for practice and fun for $7/hour.

Evening Canoe Paddle

  • When: Every Thursday June-August
  • Departure times: 5, 6 and 7 pm
  • Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to departure time to fill out necessary paperwork.
  • Fee:  $15/canoe, 2-hour limit

Experience the St. Joseph River in the evening for a leisurely 4-mile paddle. Canoes are limited and not recommended for children 3 and under. Fee includes shuttle, canoe, paddles and required life jackets. All canoes must be off the water by 10 pm.


Free Fishing Days

  • April 16, May 21, June 4 & 5
  • Ferrettie/Baugo Creek and St. Patrick’s County Parks

These days only, Indiana residents may fish without a state fishing license in Indiana waters. Free Fishing Days were created by the Indiana General Assembly in 1995 and are designated each year by the director of the Department of Natural Resources to promote angling as a recreational activity.

50th Free gate fee for those fishing, just show us your fishing poles!

Disc Golf

  • Open daily, Pro Shop hours vary
  • Ferrettie/Baugo Creek Co. Park; Pro Shop located in Gate House
  • 10am to park closing
  • Daily pass: $4/adult; $3/youth (age 15 and under)
    Annual pass: $30/adult; $20/youth
    Annual gate/disc golf combo pass: $50

Bring your friends and family to this 18-hole course. Check out the Pro Shop for all your disc golfing needs. We carry INNOVA disc golf bags and a great selection of INNOVA discs, including tie-dyed discs!

FREE Disc Golf Lessons

Come to the Ferrettie/Baugo Creek County Park Disc Golf Course for a FREE disc golf lesson! Open to anyone who is just curious about the sport, and to beginners who want tips to improve their game. Receive one-on-one instruction and guided play on the course. Discs provided. Meet at the practice hole north of the gatehouse.

Put on your walking shoes and explore a different St. Joseph County Park each Thursday in May! Learn about the history and features of each park and get a little exercise on a FREE guided hike. Hikes last 60-90 minutes and begin at 5:30pm. Register by the Monday before the tour.


Geocache St. Joseph County Parks

50th

Join the hunt for hidden “geocaches” in St. Joseph County Parks. Bridge the gap between technology and nature as you go for a modern-day treasure hunt for hidden caches at Spicer Lake Nature Preserve, Bendix Woods, Ferrettie/Baugo Creek, and St. Patrick’s County Parks. Park entrance fee in effect on certain days. If you’re new to geocaching, visit geocaching.com to learn all about it or see Calendar of Events, April 14 and 21.
