Bike the Bend $5,000 Matching Grant Donate Now...
Bike the Bend is providing a $5,000 Matching Grant to encourage individuals and businesses to support this vital segment in the 34 mile multi-use area trail known as the Indiana Michigan River Valley Trail.  St. Joseph County is currently fund raising approximately $200,000 as its portion of the final phase of the LaSalle Trail construction.  Bike the Bend will match dollar for dollar all contributions up to a total of $5,000. 

LaSalle Trail Funding

  • The LaSalle Trail starts in Roseland near the Roseland Town Park and will eventually reach the Indiana/Michigan state line.
  • The first phase now ends at Cleveland Road.

  • Size- 12.61 Acres

Unique features:

  • Groundbreaking ceremony held on May 11, 2001
  • Will be a 3.5 mile paved trail when completed.
  • Now open from Cripe St. to Cleveland Road.
  • The corridor was part of the Interurban line that ran from South Bend to Niles, Michigan, operated by Indiana Railway Co. subsidiary South Bend & Southern Michigan Railway Co., opended in 1903
