The Paving Program consists of reconstructing, rehabilitating, and resurfacing existing roads, to continue to provide an adequate driving surface to road travelers. Typically, the existing pavement is milled out, or salvaged in place, and new pavement is placed. Depending on the available funding, approximately 20-30 center line miles of roadway are completed each year through the Paving Program. This includes both mainline and subdivision roads.
Public Works maintains a pavement rating system, to assist in the prioritization of roads to be paved. Recommendations are given to the Board of Commissioners for their consideration and approval of the annual Paving Program.
